Best Time to Research and Know Foreign Universities to Apply For and Get Admitted as a Nigerian

The best time to research and know foreign universities to apply for and get admitted as a Nigerian is during the universities’ open days. So as you plan on registering for a program in any foreign university, it is wise you get to do a shortlist of the schools you intend to enrol in and know their open days. With the open day, you can visit the university virtually, ask questions, and get to know their procedures.

This post is written according to the thoughts of Afolayan Juwon Samuel on his Facebook timeline. (We’re using his idea of open day in Foreign Universities. Using this, we believe it’s the best time you can check out foreign universities).

Best Time to Research and Know Foreign Universities to Apply For and Get Admitted as a Nigerian

We’ll be revealing the details of this open day in this section of the post.

1. Many Universities in the UK have started their open days (in person and virtual). It is almost similar in other top tier foreign countries like the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Finland, and so on.

2. It is a system where you will visit the school, they’ll take you around campus, and if you like what you see. You may decide to choose the school you want.

3. For virtual participants or intending applicants, here are a few areas to ask questions….

I. Ask about scholarship or discounts

II. Ask about English requirements for Nigerians

III. Ask about tuition payment patterns (instalment).

IV. Ask about average cost of living in the location of the University.

V. Ask about available opportunities for students jobs.

VI. Does the university offer free buses to students not living in student accommodation?

There are also other pertinent questions you can ask.

You don’t have to worry, doing this is completely free, and no one would shout at you for asking too many questions.

In addition, if you already have an offer, or interested in going further with the school, you do these:

I. Ask them about the best locations for student accommodation.

II. What do their students do at leisure to support mental well-being.

III. Follow up with your CAS.

IV. Ask questions pertaining to ATAS.

Conclusion

The open days of foreign universities, especially those in UK, is the best time to research and know foreign universities to apply for and get admitted as a Nigerian. It is an excellent idea you should try out.
