Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs hails from Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State. He was born in Lagos in June 1964. He was born into a wealthy home. His father was High Chief Benson Lulu-Briggs, the founder and CEO of Moni Polu Oil. High Chief Benson Lulu-Briggs was considered the head of the wealthy Lulu-Briggs home before his death.

His family background rubbed off on him as he was heavily involved in the family’s business right from childhood. It seemed as if his father was training him to join in the family business in his adulthood.

Chief Dumo studied Law at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. After graduation, he went to Law school, and was officially a lawyer. Right after law school, he proceeded abroad, to London, where he acquired Master’s degree in Law. He came back to Nigeria after that to set up a private legal practice.

In 1995, he joined his father’s company officially in the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). He served in this position till 2002. Then, he became the Managing Director of DLB Concerns Limited in 2002. He also acquired a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics in 2003.

With all his certificates and education, he has been able to manage the company that his father left for him, and expanded it further. Most of the family’s business interest has been in the sector of oil and gas. Even though he ran the family’s business successfully, he has been able to set up his own businesses as well.

At the present time, he is the Chairman of Platform Petroleum Limited.
Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs is also a politician. He has been in active politics alongside his business since 2003. In 2003, he contested to be the Governor of Rivers State but had to step down for Peter Odili. He has been in several parties, and is presently a member of Accord Party, where he is the Governorship candidate of Rivers State.
He is happily married with children.
