He was born in 1969. He attended primary and secondary schools several states in Nigeria. He went on to study Business Administration at the old Cross River State University. Cross River State University has since been turned to University of Uyo.
He was born into a wealthy home, or an upper middle class home.
After finishing school, he ventured into business. He did some buying and selling. Then, he managed to set up an engineering firm he called “DESICON.” This firm was into construction, and management of properties. From there, the business diversified into oil and gas. Being that it is located in Akwa Ibom State, one of the foremost oil producing states in Nigeria, Mr. Udofia was able to leverage on that to create wealth for himself in oil and gas value chain.
In addition, Mr. Udofia went into the Maritime sector, and a whole lot of other sectors. He has been able to grow his businesses and business interests rapidly. From just an engineering and management firm, the business has grown to a national-standard business with interests in engineering, oil, gas, martime, services rendering, and a whole lot.
Akanimo Asuquo Udofia obtained an MBA degree from the famous Harvard Business School.
At a point, he migrated to Toronto, Canada. He visits Nigerian regularly but stays more in Canada. It is believed that he runs his businesses from Canada. He is happily married with children.
In 2022, he contested in the APC Governorship Primaries of Akwa Ibom State, and he won. He defeated other candidates by a large margin. Thus, he is the APC Governorship Candidate of Akwa Ibom State in the 2023 elections.
